why Film?
(Analog) Film is how I began in photography. There is a special look and feel to film that is hard to duplicate.
It can be described as nostalgic, colorful, creative and timeless all in one sentence.
I find my ability to slow down and get creative with film really brings something unique to portraits. Film is not always perfect, but there is an honesty to the images that is magical.
The creative nature and imperfections of the medium are something I cherish and love to bring to my clients.
Weaving this medium into my sessions is a true passion.
Shooting film allows me to give myself over to the creative process with you. Film sessions will be guided and a creative endeavor between your family and I. While they are not posed, they are for those who feel they want more direction and a true creative partnership for unique images.
I also love to incorporate film portraits into my day in the life documentary sessions. Keeping true to the hands off approach for your story, but giving you some special artistic portraits as well. Because of the imperfections of the medium itself, I believe it is an incredible complement to the story we are telling.
A true blend of storytelling and a creative medium.
Film portraits are always guided based on your children’s temperament. They will never be forced to do anything but be themselves.
Embrace the grain, details, timelessness, and magic of film. You won’t regret it!
